It is with great pleasure that the WFTGA Executive Board appoint you an Area Representative for the period 2011-2013, following your application for this voluntary position at our recent Convention in Tallinn, Estonia.

We would like you to oversee and forge links with associations and professional tourist guides in the following countries:

Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia

Mary Kemp Clarke will be our WFTGA Area Coordinator and she will be your usual point of contact for updates and advice. She will forward a document outlining Guidelines and Tasks for Area Representatives, as well as giving you Area Report deadlines, and any other information and help you might require to carry out your work for us.

Ideally we require regular short reports from you, with updated contact information in your Area. We also expect you to uphold the ethos of the WFTGA and promote its aims in all your dealings on our behalf. Please encourage the submission of articles for Guidelines Internetional from existing WFTGA members, and help us find partners for our Cultour Card Scheme. Keep abreast of activities regarding tourist guides in your area, such as conferences or workshops or new legislation and please inform us too. Remember that the Executive Board is also available to help just causes relating to guiding in different countries, particularly by writing official letters. However, we must be made aware of issues and asked to do so directly by those affected.

You are now encouraged to use the WFTGA logo in your stationery with your position of WFTGA Area Representative clearly visible. Should you incur any expenses while undertaking your work for the WFTGA, such as postage costs or faxing costs, please keep receipts and forward to us.
